Current Shows 46th annual NC Jazz Festival Featured Artists MD 4 is inspired by “Four” by Miles Davis—a composition built on movement, restraint, and quiet confidence. Rather than illustrating the music, this painting responds to it. The sweeping lines and floating notes echo improvisation, while layered color and texture capture the tension between structure and freedom that defines jazz itself. Created as an abstract conversation with sound, MD 4 invites the viewer to feel rhythm rather than follow it, to experience the pauses as much as the notes. The piece reflects my ongoing exploration of how music translates into emotion, motion, and memory on canvas. Being named a Featured Artist for the 46th Annual North Carolina Jazz Festival is an incredible honor. Jazz has always represented risk, collaboration, and authenticity—values that guide both my creative process and my career as an artist. To have this work showcased in celebration of such a historic festival is deeply meaningful and a reminder of the powerful connection between visual art and live music. Artist Statement
You cannot change the shadows of yesterday,
Only now in darkness can I see tomorrow’s day.
Stand upon my footsteps that held me tight.
Forward I struggle, but go, catch the light.
Bend but don’t break they say, but I move my soul shakes.
Tomorrow’s yesterday, I will change, how the shadows fall.
Moving through, my mind made wall.
